Editable Chainmail M2M Tables

This is going to be a short one.

In my last post I shared some statistics about the man-to-man tables in Chainmail. Here's a link to my calculations, with separate sheets for the numbers as presented in the book and another to play around with (Raw and Mod, respectively). To edit your own version, go to "File" then "Make a copy". Have fun!

  1. I converted this chart to X in 6 (by rounding). It revealed some interesting patterns.

Leather only affects daggers and isn’t worth considering (like in the mass combat tables).

Chain is minimally relevant; only impacting daggers, hand axes, spears, and lances. Could be rolled into plate as a generic “armor”.

The “baseline” weapon is a sword that hits on a 3 in 6 against unarmored foes and this is reduced by 1 pip for a shield and by 1 pip for armor.

A mace or flail ignores armor.

A battle axe ignores a shield.

A flail is 1 pip better against unarmored foes.

A halberd ignores armor and shield.

A pole arm has a base chance of 4 in 6.

A two-handed sword has a base chance of 4 in 6 and ignores both armor and shield.

A lance has a base chance of 5 in 6.

A dagger, hand axe and pike have a bit of nuance.

Overall though, the man-to-man chart isn’t worth it. Mass combat is all you need with a weapon specific adjustment.

In my level of detail anyway.

    Cool work you’re doing. Thanks.
