What surprised me is that I didn't need to insert extra loops to the map to make it interesting (maybe because my current group explored deeper where more connections of areas occur naturally).

Right now I'm not running/designing any megadungeons (Masks of Nyarlathotep face-to-face and episodic Mazes & Minotaurs online), but 2019 isn't over yet ;)

Oooh, Knave and Stonehell - do share when you can!Ynas Midgardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14972628887096890642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-794111548031176400.post-49678427174751869372019-08-02T11:34:22.319+02:002019-08-02T11:34:22.319+02:00I just started reading through Stonehell Dungeon. ...I just started reading through Stonehell Dungeon. I love the setting and central conceit of the dungeon and Michael Curtis' writing is fantastic as always. Reading through, however, I caught an instance early on of a secret door, with nothing more said about it. However, there are a couple things in the room I could potentially use to allow more interaction. But, I understand what you're saying about how secret doors are presented and wish there was more about them.

I feel like Curtis does a decent job describing the areas and making things fast enough to reference that you could potentially give decent clues regarding which direction to go, but I also wish this was something thought about more. "There's a corridor to the right and one to the left, they look about the same." This is a bummer of a phrase to have to hurdle over.

Lastly, I agree with your comment regarding wandering monsters and what they're doing. The Dark of Hot Springs Island does an amazing job with this and I wish it was of greater consideration by all authors.

I plan on running Stonehell with Knave and perhaps various procedures from Black Hack 2e and various other resources and house rules from across the OSR. I look forward to seeing other things you post on this topic.Jason A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11707557833342502936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-794111548031176400.post-64421955806383483772019-01-16T04:56:14.112+01:002019-01-16T04:56:14.112+01:00Great post.
